ShorTS Immersive
ShorTS Immersive at FeKK has been guiding audiences through the evolution of immersive storytelling, observing a constantly changing language. The section has gradually progressed from 360° and 180° Cinematic VR works (capable of expanding the viewers’ perspective and immersing them in new visual and narrative worlds) to a new dimension of experience.
With the introduction of the 6DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) section, the focus has shifted from observation to interaction. Viewers are no longer simply asked to watch a story; they are invited to experience it, explore it, and contribute to its development through their actions. This form of storytelling challenges linear narratives and opens up new expressive possibilities, where the author’s time intertwines with that of the audience.
The 2026 edition is therefore entirely dedicated to 6DoF experiences, showcasing the growing maturity of this language and its exploration of the delicate boundary between presence and fiction, participation and emotional engagement. Each work unfolds in real time, responding to the gestures, gaze, and rhythm of those who experience it.
Cinematic VR has not disappeared; it is evolving. immersive works remain deeply connected to the grammar of cinema and continue to explore new expressive possibilities thanks to advances in production and capture technologies. We are confident that these forms will continue to find a place within ShorTS Immersive, fostering the ongoing dialogue between cinema, technology and storytelling.
