FeXXX: Possible Pleasures
Rekindling erotic imagination and radical possibility through queer feminist cinema
In a world on fire — marked by ecological collapse, militarization, and rising authoritarianism — what does it mean to insist on pleasure? FeXXX, a special program in the 11th edition of the FeKK festival, presents queer feminist erotic and pornographic films that reclaim desire as a political and aesthetic force.
Curated by the film team of the International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns, this programme invites us to think with the body. Here, pleasure is neither commodified nor sanitized. It is messy, subversive, and unruly. Drawing from the lineage of queer feminist pornography, these films break with dominant visual regimes, unsettling the phallocentric gaze and dismantling normative narratives of gender, sexuality, and desire. Embracing DIY and experimental aesthetics, they treat the erotic not as spectacle but as a site of embodied critique, affective relation, and radical worldmaking.
We begin with The Lesbian Alien Fisting Operetta on Venus (2023), an extravagant musical where interstellar pleasure is revolt, the erotic is collective, and camp becomes a mode of critique. The Confession (2022) satirizes queer desire, shame, and religious guilt through sapphic fantasy in a church confessional. Created entirely by sex workers, it reclaims authorship and reframes sin as pleasure. Genderfluid (2021) is a poetic dive into the erotic imagination of a non-binary person, where visual intensity dissolves the gender binary and affirms fluidity. In The Princess and the Peacock (2024), a transfeminine performer turns her body into a site of ritual, as the film interrogates the politics of looking — where beauty, pain, and fascination bleed into discomfort. The Third World After the Sun (2024) leads us into the Colombian jungle, where trans artists enact a ritual of possession and de-identification. Blending performance and speculative myth, the film opens portals between colonial histories, animality, and queer embodiment. We close with Planetary Loss (2024), a haunting reflection on the entanglement of ecological and erotic life — where the degradation of the planetary body threatens the capacity for intimacy and pleasure.
Why now? Because when everything feels impossible, insisting on joy is urgent. FeXXX reminds us that for queer, trans, racialised, sex-working, and disabled bodies, pleasure is not just survival — it is a radical claim to life.
Welcome to FeXXX!
