Po(p)litics
In a song I hate there is a lyric that goes “I am dangerous ’cause I’m ridiculous, and it seems to me that I’m a threat to the whole society ’cause I ain’t got no dignity”. Having this earworm in my head, I wanted to put together a playful selection capturing this stupid yet accurate lyric. A programme, consisting of films that expose and resist hierarchical systems and any form of authority, all with the soundtrack and rhythm of revolution
By ridiculing patriarchal structures and macho culture, challenging legal entitlement by sampling intellectual property as well as invading home property, and rapping the reasons why tech oligarchs are threatening our human rights with their algorithms, these films not only entertain us but show that humour is a weapon.
