Workshop #worthseeing
Organiser: the FIPRESCI Slovenian Federation of Film Critics and the Ljubljana Short Film Festival FeKK with the aid of the Slovenian Film Centre.
Language: Slovene
Although film criticism still prevalently appears in traditional printed media, it can also be found in new audio and audio-visual formats such as video essays that speak in a specific cinematic language, concise or in-depth stories, reels and first-person addresses on social media, several-hour-long podcasts, and more. Since film criticism workshops normally centre on writing, the FIPRESCI Slovenian Federation of Film Critics is once more breaking away from tradition by hosting the #worthseeing workshop which allows young film critics to analyse a film in a form of their choosing.
Workshop participants will be mentored by Žiga Brdnik (the Minoriti Open-Air Cinema, the Feminist Film Festival FeFi, the Shots Film Festival, and the Poklon viziji Festival) and his colleagues Robert Kuret (FeKK), Anja Banko (Slovenian Cinematheque), and others to thoroughly acquaint them with curating challenges and film programme organisation. The purpose of this workshop is not theoretical knowledge of cinema but practical experience (from securing suitable locations to funding). After completing the program, you will be able to help shape the Student Cinema Club at the Ljubljana Faculty of Social Sciences for the upcoming school year.
We warmly encourage all high school and faculty students who enjoy approaching film critically and are interested in developing film programs, film nights, festivals, and cinema clubs to attend the workshop. Everyone is welcome to apply, providing you’re interested in gaining knowledge, contacts, and cinema buddies.
