The Basic Laws of Screenwriting: is it a Short or a Feature?
Lecture
In this lecture, Christian Gamst Miller-Harris will be diving into the similarities and differences between short and feature length films. We will be looking at structure and cutting off points as well as character interaction and how much or little one needs to pack ones screenplay for creating and writing a short. There are no final answers as there as no manuals for shorts. But through discussion, thoughts about the medium of shorts and an opening of the toolbox of writing, there may be a fair few productive roads ahead to work with.
The discussion will be moderated by Tanja Hladnik, mentor at the Short Scene, an associate of the PROFeKK programme, and director of the film festival Kino Otok – Isola Cinema.
Christian Gamst Miller-Harris is an English Danish screenwriter who was educated at the national film school of Denmark’s screenwriting programme. He’s written extensively for television, film and radio and has worked both nationally and on international platforms.
