Short Scene Screenwriting Workshop
Short Scene is an intensive six-month workshop that combines the theory and practice of screenwriting, the development of ideas, the actual writing of a short film script, and a public presentation or the so-called project pitch. For this, participants prepare individually with their mentors and in groups.
Because of the small number of selected participants, mentors can work more closely and thoroughly with each individual, and everyone can learn about each other’s ideas, igniting a deeper and more inspiring creative exchange. The workshop is open to both experienced and inexperienced screenwriters.
The chosen participants of 2026 (and their projects) are Lara Šifrer with Konsenz; Ema Paš and Aljaž Hitrec with Sanjači; Kristian Bernard Irgl with Sejalke; Neža Knez with Miza brez mere; Tina Glavič Novak with Škarje in solze; and Maša Pfeifer with Brstenje.
Local mentors for script development are Matevž Jerman, Nika Jurman, Peter Cerovšek, and Tanja Hladnik, while the visiting mentor is Christian Gamst Miller-Harris. Anja Prusnik will act as a mentor for public presentation.
This year’s 11th edition of Short Scene is backed by the Directors’ Guild of Slovenia, supported by the Slovenian Film Centre, and co-organised by the Kraken Society for the Promotion of Short Film.
