Kela: Lessons of Darkness

A tour of the exhibition, named after Werner Herzog’s film Lessons of Darkness, is guided by the exhibition’s curator and artists. The exhibition explores the lessons we find in the darkness of the cinema as well as in the increasingly unpredictable and dark world around us. It builds on these ideas with works by Kela art production space members who explore the materiality of the photographic medium and light, as well as processes of time, decay, and transience through their photographs, videos, objects, and installations. Lessons of Darkness exhibition combines a range of artistic practices and offers different narratives on transience, memory, and photography as intervention, as well as how images change their meanings over time.

Kela is an art production space, connecting individual artists of different interests and creative practices, mostly from the field of photography. Its participating artists are Peter Fettich, Maša Knapič, Hana Podvršič, Luka Prijatelj, Mojca Radkovič, Sara Rman, Urška Savič, Olja Simčič Jerele, Iva Suhadolnik Gregorin, and Vita Tušek.
