A Stroll Through Karpo Godina’s Cinematic Imaginary
A guided tour of the Karpo Godina – Film Imaginary exhibition
Matevž Jerman, curator of the exhibition and co-director of FeKK, takes visitors on a unique stroll through the life and work of the extraordinary Slovenian director of photography and filmmaker, Karpo Godina (born in Skopje, 1943), who forever marked the history of Slovenian, Yugoslavian, and international film. As a filmmaker, director of photography, and screenwriter, he is a significant figure in the so-called Yugoslav Black Wave and the author of several iconic Slovenian feature films. He has left his traces on Slovenia’s cinematic landscape as a pedagogue, and as a guardian of cinematic history, he continues to shape it. He is the only Slovenian author who, in addition to countless other retrospectives, visits, and exhibitions abroad, has had a retrospective of his films shown at the New York MoMA.
