For many years now, the Kraken Association, in collaboration with the LIFFe Ljubljana International Film Festival, has been organizing a short film competition program under the name “Europe in Short”.
The programme presents a selection of outstanding titles from the most important festivals and works that bring fresh authorial approaches and boldly explore the possibilities of film language. The program section is dedicated to the best that European short film has to offer in the last year.
This year, we are again presenting three competition sections, bringing together 18 short films from 15 European countries. The programs feature all film genres, including fiction, documentary, animated, and experimental films, creating a diverse and expressive overview of contemporary European short film production.
The screenings will be hosted by the Slovenian Cinematheque between November 16 and 18 2025. They will be evaluated by an international jury of experts.
