Film Curation and Programming in a Time of Crisis

Four curators of four different international festivals, with different backgrounds, experiences, and curatorial approaches, are coming to FeKK with their own curated film programmes to capture the festival’s theme Lessons from Darkness and offer different answers to the same question. How to think the world through films and how to make curation a means of establishing new views, connections and platforms of dialogue? For that reason, curation and programming are also the focus of this year’s industry programme. Curators Sanne Jehoul, Anne Duffau and Laurent Crouzeix will talk about curation as an artistic, political and ethical practice and discuss whether film festivals can remain a space of critical thinking, imagination and social responsibility. The discussion will be moderated by Lyse Ishimwe Nsengiyumva.

Anne Duffau is a cultural producer, researcher, and founder of A—Z, an exploratory/nomadic curatorial platform. A—Z aims to open up to audiences by sharing discursive practices in order to challenge preconceived ideas about race, gender identities and so-called history in terms of power relationships. She has worked with PAF Olomouc since 2017, programming screenings and exhibitions. She co-founded and programmed the collectives: Transmissions.tv and Décalé. She is a Tutor at the Royal College of Art’s Contemporary Art Practice Programme and works as a freelance producer/researcher for Somerset House Studios. She produces monthly shows on Resonance FM and stegi.radio and live music under Alpha through several projects and collaborations (MAENADS, Polisonics, The New Adolescents). Her latest project Always Coming Home was hosted at Matt’s Gallery in 2024 and at Camden Art Centre, FACT Liverpool, Ormside Projects and Corsica Studios in 2025/26. It was granted an RCA Research Grant and an ACE Project Grant.

Laurent Crouzeix serves on the executive team of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and Short Film Market. He is the coordinator of the Euro Connection co-production forum, which has successfully completed over 140 projects to date. He also designs industry meetings focused on the development, production, and distribution of short films. Laurent is a regular expert or consultant for international script and project development training programmes. As sustainability officer, he oversees the event’s social and environmental action plan. Laurent’s stop-motion short Amerigo and the New World was released in 2019.

Sanne Jehoul is a film and culture worker with over a decade of experience in the field. She was a programme director at the Glasgow Short Film Festival, managed the short film slate at Square Eyes, led the talent programme for the BFI Doc Society Fund, and has programmed for several UK and European festivals. In 2026, she started onzer films, through which she supports and distributes new moving image works and filmmakers. She is part of the editorial team at Talking Shorts, on the selection committee for Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, a consultant at the Documentary Association of Europe, and regularly reads for various international funds and labs. She has collaborated on various grassroots and community-focused projects and is interested in spaces and networks for cross-sector solidarity and support. She regularly participates in panels and juries as well as facilitates conversations and events and was a curator-in-residence at Q21 in Vienna.
