12. FeKK - Lessons of Darkness
From 17 to 22 August, Ljubljana will once again become the centre of short films. The 12th edition of the FeKK–Ljubljana Short Film Festival will present the highlights of worldwide, European, regional, and Slovenian short-film production, while bringing filmmakers, curators, and lovers of the short form from all corners of the globe to Ljubljana. Alongside its competition programmes, FeKK will also feature workshops, an exhibition, music events, VR experiences, special screenings and a variety of gatherings dedicated to contemporary film culture.
This year’s central theme Lessons of Darkness contemplates the lessons received in the dark embrace of the cinema, as well as in the darkening world around us. The slogan originates from one of the most powerful ecological and anti-war cinematic meditations by Werner Herzog, whom we will honour with a retrospective of his short films. Besides its various competition programmes, FeKK will also present the Spanish filmmaker Gala Hernández López, guest programmes of the renowned short film festival Clermont-Ferrand, thematically curated programmes of several acclaimed international guest-curators, archive film programmes, an extensive professional programme and numerous other cinema-related events.
