FeKK SLO 2025: Stranger than fiction

Following last year’s lull, the 2025 FeKK SLO programming boasts a significant number of fiction films. In these, we observe two characteristics: first, all films save two are student productions, and second, the student films were developed at international academies, particularly the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts (ADU). When we consider that up to six filmmakers in this year’s programme attend international academies, this speaks of increased recognition of the talented Slovene filmmakers, studying at the academies in Belgrade (FDU), Prague (FAMU), and The Hague (Royal Academy of Art), to name a few. Still, it is also becoming less unexpected each year that Slovene short films are often selected for the top European cinema festivals (Rotterdam, Berlinale, and Oberhausen) as well as prominent regional festivals.
