Uppsala Short Film Festival presents
The Big Breeding Project
To breed or not to breed, that’s the question. A horrid question that is looming over many people between 30 and 40. The years that Swedish director Martina Carlstedt calls “Ödesåren” – roughly translated as “the years that decide one’s future”. Finding myself in these tedious years, I have been thinking a lot about some Swedish shorts I have encountered over the years dealing with this subject, and in The Big Breeding Project, I want to explore the artists’ perception of parenthood.
Through their films we get to experience how to deal with your partner’s infertility and the creative ways of maximising your ovulation, potentially renouncing everything from one’s artistic practice to sexual capital, and of course, the creative family planning that might be the only reasonable solution to a fair distribution of wealth.
