Critic’s Jury Award

FeKK SLO Award
Line Rider
Simon Intihar, Slovenija, 2023, 24’

The short documentary skilfully navigates between two levels: On the one hand, it shows the fascinating character of Boštjan Čadež, whom we get to know both through his intimate relationship with the director and through his creative thought process. On the other hand, we see the socio-cultural impact of Boštjan’s play Line Rider, which has profoundly affected many lives and built communities of people, including those who are usually marginalized. A watchable, humorous and emotional film experience.

FeKK BAL Award
Dežela gora / Land of Mountains / Land der Berge
Olga Kosanović, Avstria, 2023, 28′

The film depicts the complex migration experiences of Vladimir, a single father living with his daughter in Austria – from the absurdity of bureaucratic procedures to the daily struggle for survival. We get to know the character not only as a template migrant, but also through an intimate, playful family relationship. In fact, the film also approaches the immigrant experience with humour and irony. The daughter’s innocent daydreams of a trip to Thailand collide with the harsh reality of the meatpacking industry, as only her father’s self-harm can save them from deportation from the country.
